Developer, Administrator
IBM absorbed most of Prudential HealthCare's engineering through a consulting agreement, and I was part of the group kept on as Prudential employees — the people who might be valuable in a sale. None of it felt like it was heading in a good direction, and it was clear the sale was happening, so I went looking for somewhere I could use more raw engineering skill. Bestfoods was it.
I came in as an email and Lotus Notes administrator and moved into pure Lotus Notes development from there. It is where I learned to build internal systems for an entire company rather than for a small group: 4,000 people, all of whom needed the thing to work on Monday. My time there was short but extremely valuable, and I'm grateful for the experience.
