2002 — 2004 · Financial Education
Senior Software Engineer, System Administrator, Tech Team Lead
Ten people, straight from a bank of a hundred thousand. Financial education was a new domain for me, and so was most of the engineering: I was suddenly responsible for a wide set of work I had never owned before — leading four engineers on a learning management system, fifteen partitioned Domino servers, DNS, the firewall, user management, and every internal application.
That breadth turned out to be worth a great deal, and it is a large part of why the NHL work was possible a year later.
Everybody has that one company, and this was mine. The work was fine; the rest of the story isn't for a public page.
Led a team of four building a financial learning management system
Responsible for developing every internal application
Designed an advanced menu system customized to each client's training needs
Built a system that generated nightly Excel reports for every client automatically
Administered Windows NT and Domino across roughly 15 partitioned Domino servers
Administered the network, including DNS, the firewall and user management
