Software Engineer
Straight from a fifty-person M&A firm into a bank of a hundred thousand people, and my first time working as a consultant. The scale was not the new part — Prudential and Bestfoods were both large. The new part was being inside a bank: high pressure in a very different way, and I worked adjacent to the trading floor.
As everywhere else, I learned the business on the fly.
Designed and developed the web-based intranet for the derivatives group
Designed and developed the web-based front end for the base metals trading group, working with the middleware and back end development teams
Designed and developed a system for senior management to submit, discuss, review and approve new financial products, built for Netscape 4.6
Maintained roughly 35 operational applications for the wholesale bank, most of them stable and needing monitoring and the occasional fix
